Moving from One Place to Another After Passing Away
Question
The Hindus say that their sadhus (Hindu ascetics), holy men and “great men”, by the power of their spiritual discipline, can transport their bodies and traverse the world in their real form. Some Muslims here hold the same belief: that our awliya and prophets too can transport their bodies and go wherever they wish; in particular, that the pure soul of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, even after his passing, can travel through all the places of the world. Can such a thing be?
Answer
If there is permission and support from Allah the Exalted, the soul can come into the world even after passing away; but merely of its own wish, without the permission and support of the Pure God, it cannot come. As for someone going to various places while still alive, this can happen through incantatory practices and also through mujahada (spiritual striving).
