The Respected Bara Pir Snatching Souls from the Angel of Death and Restoring Them to Life

Question

A woman’s husband had died, and the woman was weeping. Meanwhile the respected Bara Pir (an epithet of Shaykh ‘Abd al-Qadir Jilani) inquired what the matter was; she said, “My husband has died.” Having consoled her, he went up to the fourth heaven, seized Malak al-Mawt (the Angel of Death) and asked for one soul; the angel did not give it, so the respected Bara Pir snatched that basket from Malak al-Mawt and released all the souls onto the earth, and every one of them came back to life.

Answer

This incident, too, is a sheer lie. Just as the people of other religions attribute false tales to their holy men, so the Muslims too have adopted the very same manner. [ar]إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّآ إِلَيْهِ رَٰجِعُونَ[/ar] “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we return” (Surah al-Baqara, 2:156).
