The “Possession” by a Saintly Spiritual Guide

Question

Some people also say that the “possession” (the coming of the spirit) of Bara Pir (an epithet of Shaykh ‘Abd al-Qadir Jilani), of Ghazi Miyan or of Mathile Baba has come. Does this have any basis or not?

Answer

Saintly persons, after their passing, do not mount anyone and torment him. The notions spread among people concerning “spirit possession” have no basis in the Sacred Law; however, jinn and devils can come, and they may give whatever name they wish.
