Saying “If I go to my sister’s, it is as if I committed zina with my mother seven times”
Question
Question: Zayd swore: “If I go to the house of my sister Hinda, it is as if I committed zina (fornication) with my mother Khalida seven times.” His sister (and) his brother-in-law took him to their home with great difficulty; and Hinda is his wife, but that house was prepared by Hinda’s husband. In this situation, has any expiation (kaffara) become wajib or not?
Answer
No oath came about by saying this, and no kaffara is due; but saying such a thing is grave ignorance and foolishness.
