A false oath (half)

Question

Question: A certain Halima has three sons: Zayd, Bakr and ‘Umar. Khalid asked Halima for four thousand rupees and said, “We are running a brick kiln; you will have a quarter share in it.” Agreeing to this, Halima and Zayd gave Khalid four thousand rupees, and the kiln’s work went on. When the accounts were drawn up after the kiln closed, a considerable loss came to light. The accounts were checked for several days, but only a loss was found.

Answer

If a false oath was sworn, then this is a major sin (kabira) that is close to shirk; repentance and seeking forgiveness (tawba and istighfar) are necessary, otherwise its evil consequence is very severe.
