Which Value Is Taken into Account in Zakat on Silver?
Question
If I take silver to a shop, they will buy it from me at half its price, and if I go to buy it, they will sell it at the actual rate. So by which reckoning should zakat now be given?
Answer
If in zakat you do not give the silver itself but rather its value, then the price at which it will be sold in the market is what is taken into account.
