A Decision That Teachers Pray Before the Mosque Congregation
Question
The managing body of a madrasa decided that the teachers should first pray Zuhr in a separate congregation and then begin teaching, whereas previously the teachers used to pray with the congregation during the break; the break was from one o’clock to two. Now it has been made from half past twelve to a quarter past one. What is the ruling concerning such people? Is it permissible to give sacrificial hides, zakat and the like to a school where an emphasized sunna is abandoned by order?
Answer
The teachers should be given permission to take part in the mosque congregation; whatever time is spent on it can be made up at the beginning or at the end. The decision that has been made to abandon the congregation is not enforceable; it should be withdrawn.
