Renting a house built by a prostitute for a madrasa

Question

A prostitute built a house from some unlawful income of hers. Is it permissible or not to rent this house for an Islamic madrasa in which the Noble Qur’an, hadith and the like are taught? Also, what is the ruling on performing the prayer in the said house, in congregation and individually?

Answer

It is evident that the wage of fornication (zina) is haram, and the prostitute does not become its owner. It must be returned to the actual owner, and in his absence to his heirs; if none of them exists or they are not known, then it is wajib to give it away in charity with the intention of ridding oneself of it.
