Spending the Money of a Shrine on a Mosque and a Madrasa
Question
Question: The respected Sayyid Abu al-Qasim Khurasani, who came from Khurasan, was a perfect wali (wali kamil) of the Naqshbandi tariqa. For seventy-five years people have been visiting his blessed shrine. His son, daughter, daughter’s sons and others have, as a family duty, been serving this shrine — sweeping it and the like — for seventy-five years. The visitors also donate money.
Answer
The money that visitors give to the attendant of the shrine in connection with his service and with the one buried in the shrine (sahib al-mazar) belongs to the attendants of the shrine. No one has the right to take it by force for the madrasa.
