Taking a Loan from Madrasa Funds
Question
The members of Madrasa Husayniyya Tajwid al-Qur’an, Mansurpur, wish to give some amount from the madrasa’s treasury to some madrasa as a Shar‘i interest-free loan (qard hasan). Is it correct to give such an amount as qard hasan or not? This matter is being enquired about by order of the respected rector of this madrasa.
Answer
The members of the madrasa are trustees (amins). The madrasa’s treasury is a trust (amana). It is not permissible for a trustee to lend from a trust. Yes, if it is donation money and there is permission from the donors, there is room for it.
