A madrasa set up in opposition to another madrasa

Question

In the Madrasa Islamiyya ‘Arabiyya two teachers had been taken on who were also students of this same madrasa. They remained teachers for a long time but did not work properly. When I began the work, I alone taught two to two and a half hundred students. Every year two to four became hafiz and recited the Qur’an in tarawih. After that, when these people were taken on, the number of students fell to a hundred (100).

Answer

The Holy Qur’an mentions the masjid dirar (mosque of harm), which was done away with. Regarding this passage it is written in Tafsir Mazhari, Madarik, Iklil and others that a mosque which is properly made a mosque — that is, it is made a waqf and prayer, adhan and congregation (jama‘a) are begun in it — becomes a mosque in the Shar‘i sense.
