A Person with Scabies or Leprosy Coming to the Mosque
Question
A person suffers from a disease that is contagious, namely scabies and leprosy; the common people feel aversion towards him, and people are repelled by his using the mosque’s prayer mat and the like. What is the Shar‘i ruling on such a man using the mosque’s items and coming to the mosque?
Answer
Considering any disease contagious in itself is wrong; the Prophet ﷺ forbade this. However, a person afflicted with such a disease that people feel aversion towards him, and there is fear that their beliefs will become corrupt or that corrupt beliefs will become firmly rooted, must take this into consideration: he should perform wudu at his own home and then go.
