Buying Tin Sheets Cheaply from the Town Area Committee for Use in a Mosque

Question

In the town there is a Town Area Committee (a local municipal body); it has four Muslim members and six others. The chairman wished to give old, used tin sheets to Hindus as a charitable gift. Their number is 31, and their value is approximately one thousand two hundred rupees. A Muslim society wants, instead of taking these sheets as a gift, to buy them for only one hundred rupees and lay them. Kindly inform us of the Shari‘a ruling.

Answer

Since the Town Area Committee is empowered and is authorized even to give them free, it is also correct to buy these sheets from it and use them in the mosque, even if the price set is low.
