The Ruling on a Mosque-Like Structure with a Grave in the Middle
Question
A certain person is uneducated; he does remember a few suras for leading the prayer, but even those he does not recite correctly. If anyone says anything, he, relying on the support of non-Muslims, opposes the Muslims to such a degree that when he finds the opportunity he even has them arrested. For this reason the people of the mosque stopped praying behind him, and when he did not leave, the Muslims there boycotted him.
Answer
If that place was not given for building a mosque and for praying, but rather a person built a mosque-like structure against the owner’s permission and wishes, and the grave is in the middle, such that when those praying on the floor prostrate, the prostration is towards the grave, then prayer should not be performed there, and this person should not be made imam.
