Renting Out Utensils to Meet the Mosque’s Expenses
Question
To meet its expenses, the mosque’s management committee bought some utensils out of the mosque’s income, which are rented out for weddings and other functions, and whatever rent is received from them is used to meet the expenses. Is it correct according to the Shariʿa to collect rent for the utensils in this way and to put it to use in running the madrasa and the mosque?
Answer
According to the Shariʿa there is nothing objectionable in this; it is correct to spend that rent on the needs mentioned.
