Collecting Rent for Billboards Placed on a Mosque

Question

A photograph of the mosque is sent along with this question. This mosque is on a main road. On top of this mosque two boards advertising radio have been put up, from which the mosque's income increases somewhat — although the mosque has a mutawalli (trustee), and the mosque is situated in a commercial area, and Muslim traders are always ready to give ample funds. Answer

Shops may indeed be built to meet the mosque's needs, but running the mosque itself on rent and earning money from it is not permissible. The grounds of objection put forward by the Muslims there are also weighty and cannot be ignored.
