Making Any Part of the Mosque a Source of Income
Question
When people bathe (?) on top of the mosque and below there are shops for rent, is this permissible or not?
Answer
Designating the upper storey as the mosque and building shops in the lower part — so that prayer is performed above while buying, selling and market business goes on below — is contrary to the reverence due to the mosque. Above and below, the whole place ought to be mosque. Making any part of the mosque a source of income is not correct.
