Renting Out Land Endowed to a Mosque

Question

Is it permissible or not to rent out an endowed place for some purpose, whether for a house or for farming? And who will have the authority to rent it out?

Answer

Renting it out and farming it is permissible, provided it is not contrary to the purpose of the waqif (endower); and the right to rent it out belongs to the waqif or the mutawalli (trustee).
