Taking Soil from a Non-Muslim’s Land for a Mosque
Question
There is land belonging to a non-Muslim, and a mosque has been built next to it. A Muslim looks after the non-Muslim’s land, but the people of the neighbourhood dig soil out of this non-Muslim’s land and use it in the mosque, and when the person under whose supervision the land is forbade them, they boycotted him. What is the ruling of the Shari‘a on doing this?
Answer
Taking soil from a non-Muslim’s land without the owner’s permission and using it in the mosque is not permissible; by doing so these people are wrongdoers and sinners. Pure wealth should be used in the house of Allah the Pure; unlawful wealth is not accepted by Allah.
