Money of Shias, the Pharai Community and Non-Muslims for a Mosque
Question
The questioner states: may the money of Shias, and of those Pharais (a community some of whose members live by begging) in whose households the people who beg are one or two while those who do labour and daily wage work are the majority, be used in the construction of a mosque, or not? And is it permissible to use the money of Hindus too in the construction of a mosque, or not?
Answer
Any person — Muslim, Shia or Sunni — who gladly gives money for the construction of a mosque or for its other needs — fuel (firewood), the khatm of the Qur’an, the salary of the imam or muezzin — and regards it as a deed of reward (thawab): taking his money is correct.
