Spending Cinema Income on a Mosque and Madrasa

Question

(2) Further, may the income of a cinema be spent on a mosque or madrasa or not? If someone wishes to give a cinema house as a gift (hiba) to a mosque or madrasa, is it correct to rent it out or sell it and put its proceeds into the mosque or madrasa, or not? And will zakat be wajib on money earned through haram and interest, or not?

Answer

Spending the income of a cinema, or any impermissible income, on a mosque or madrasa is not correct; such income must be given away in charity (tasadduq). Only poor, needy students are its recipients; it is not to be spent on salaries, construction and the like.
