A Film Actor’s Income for a Mosque and Madrasa
Question
(1) A film actor who is regular in fasting and prayer gladly donates to good causes. What is the ruling on taking donations from him for a mosque and a madrasa? (2) Should the members of the madrasa go to such a person for donations or not?
Answer
(1) Money from unlawful income should be accepted neither for the mosque nor for the madrasa; it is necessary to give it in charity (sadaqa) to the poor. Poor adult boys, or the minor sons of a poor man, who study at the madrasa are proper recipients (masraf) of it. (2) They should not go at all.
