Insuring a Mosque

Question

What is the ruling on insuring a mosque? The mosque here was burned during the last riots; the mosque’s belongings, mats, prayer rugs and so on were all burned.

Answer

If there is no way to protect the mosque, then insuring it out of necessity is correct; however, the interest money obtained from it should not be spent on the mosque.
