Photographs of Madina in a mosque and praying facing them
Question
A person has hung four photographs taken with a camera in a mosque. Two photographs show the circumambulation (tawaf) of the Kaʿba, and two photographs are of Madina the Radiant, in which the dome and the courtyard are shown, and in the courtyard twelve pigeons are shown eating grain. Is it permissible to hang such pictures in a mosque or not? (2) Will the five daily prayers be valid in the presence of such pictures or not?
Answer
Making a photograph of an animate being and hanging it in a house and the like is not correct, and hanging it in a mosque is even more repugnant. If it is in front of those praying, the prayer too will be makruh.
