An Office and the Like in a Room Built Inside a Mosque
Question
This concerns the inner part of a mosque. Originally the mosque’s land is triangular. When the mosque was built, it was built straight, and one corner of it was left over, but it too was included in the outer part of the mosque, the floor (courtyard). On Fridays, when there were many people, prayer used to be performed in it as well.
Answer
If that place too had been made waqf and designated specifically for prayer, then it is not correct now for the imam or the director to take up permanent residence in that place, or to conduct office work in it, or to make it a boarding house for the madrasa children.
