Building new minarets when fine minarets already exist
Question
The minarets of our Jami‘ mosque are very finely built. Now some people have formed the intention of building more minarets, on which four thousand rupees will be spent, and donations will be collected for it. The people of the neighbourhood find this burdensome. When minarets already exist, is it permissible to build other minarets or not?
Answer
Since the minarets are good and finely built, building a new minaret by raising a separate foundation for it and spending a large sum on it is pointless. Money should not be wasted in this way. There is no reward in it; spending money without reason is a calamity.
