Naming a Mosque “Masjid Haram”

Question

A mosque is being built here under the name “Masjid Haram”. Some people are objecting to its name, saying that “Masjid Haram” is the name of the mosque of the Ka‘ba, and therefore the name should be changed. We request you to tell us whether a mosque may be named “Masjid Haram” or not.

Answer

This is exactly the deception (talbis — misleading confusion) that Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani practised: for himself he chose the name of the Prophet ﷺ, for his wife the name of the Mother of the Believers ﵂, for his mosque the name of the mosque of the Master of the Worlds ﷺ, and for his graveyard the name of the graveyard of blessed Madina.
