The Ruling on the Roof over the Mosque’s Ablution Area and Toilets
Question
There is a mosque with a gate on the outside. Facing it, on the inner side of this gate, there is a toilet block on one side and an ablution area on the other; above the ablution area and above the toilets there are rooms, and over all of these there is one continuous roof, and this roof is fully joined to the upper part of the mosque’s upper floor (as if it has become the veranda of the upper floor of the mosque).
Answer
The roof above the part of the courtyard that has been designated for prayer is indeed a mosque, but the roof above the ablution area and the toilets is not a mosque in the Shar‘i sense, and the rulings of a mosque will not apply to it.
