Paying salaries from the hides of sacrificial animals
Question
Question: In this village there is an Islamic madrasa. For two or three months no donations have been received, nor has any effort been made to collect them, so the teachers’ salaries are outstanding. Sacrificial hides have been collected with the respected administrator. May they be sold and this sum be spent on the outstanding salaries?
Answer
If those who gave them made them the property of the respected administrator, and did not give them as a donation for the needs of the madrasa, then it is valid in the Shari‘a to sell them and spend the proceeds on salaries and the like.
