Giving the price of the hide to one’s poor father or children

Question

Question: What is the ruling on giving the price of the hide of the sacrificial animal to one’s father or children, when they are poor?

Answer

It is not permissible. It should be given to a person to whom one may give zakat, and giving zakat to one’s father or children is not correct. Giving away the price of the sacrificial hide as sadaqa is likewise wajib (“Shami”, vol. 5, p. 209).
