Partners in a joint business who individually do not own the nisab are not obliged to sacrifice
Question
(1) Several brothers together carry on some work for their livelihood, and they all eat and drink in one place. If we look at each one’s work individually, the sacrifice is not wajib on any of them, since none becomes an owner of the nisab; if we look at them collectively, they appear well-off, and the nisab is also complete. In such a case, is it wajib on them to make a sacrifice jointly or not? (2) If a joint sacrifice is wajib, on whose behalf will it be discharged?
Answer
(1) In this case the sacrifice is not wajib on any of them. (2) Nor is it wajib jointly.
