The lost first animal was found after a second sacrificial animal was bought

Question

Zayd bought an animal for sacrifice which got lost before the sacrifice. He bought another one, and then the first was found as well. Is the sacrifice of both wajib on him, or of one, or is there some difference in this between the rich and the poor, as is printed in the leaflet?

Answer

If Zayd is wealthy, such that the sacrifice is wajib on him, then in this case the sacrifice of one is wajib on him. If he is poor, the sacrifice of both will be wajib on him. However, if when buying the second animal he made the intention, “I am buying it in place of the first animal that was lost,” then the sacrifice of only one will be wajib on him (“Sakb al-Anhur”, vol.
