Upon whom is the sacrifice wajib?

Question

Question: A book on the sacrifice came to my notice. In it the author wrote that the sacrifice is wajib upon every resident (muqim, not travelling), free, Muslim, sane, adult owner of the nisab. The owner of the nisab is one who, apart from household goods, possesses ½ (?) tola (a unit of weight, ≈ 11.66 g) of gold, or fifty-two and a half tolas of silver, or thirty-six rupees. Here the passing of a year is not a condition. Upon one who is not an owner of the nisab the sacrifice is not wajib, but it is mustahabb.

Answer

Treating thirty-six rupees as the nisab is wrong: the nisab will be however many rupees the value of fifty-two and a half tolas of silver amounts to. Regarding the sacrifice on behalf of a child, the position on which the fatwa is given (mufta bihi) is that it is not wajib. The rest of the content is correct.
