A woman in ‘idda moving to another place

Question

Question: The respected Hajji Muhammad Ibrahim passed away. My sister has been in Bombay since then; now she is very ill, and the doctors advise that she should have a change of climate. According to the Shari‘a, may she travel and come to Meerut or not? My sister is alone there with her children.

Answer

If the climate there does not suit her constitution and moving from there is necessary for treatment, then it is permissible according to the Shari‘a for her to move from there even before the end of the ‘idda of four months and ten days.
