Remarriage after talaq, and the birth of a child
Question
Question: The woman whom I married failed in her character and faithfulness. For the second time I gave her three shar‘i talaqs in writing (“دوبارہ سہ طلاق شرعی لکھ کر دیا”), and not over three ‘iddas as the Shari‘a of Muhammad ﷺ commands. When the talaq took place the first time, at that time first one irrevocable (ba’in) talaq was written, then “one talaq” was struck out and “talaq” was written.
Answer
If the first time you gave one or two talaqs orally or wrote them and sent them in writing, and after that you married her again, i.e. you performed the offer and acceptance (ijab and qabul) of nikah in the presence of at least two witnesses, then this nikah is valid, even if there was no sermon (khutba) in it.
