Regarding three talaqs as one
Question
A written document was brought to Zayd in which a divorce deed was written. Zayd, having read, with a short pause, these words of the divorce deed: “اپنے تن پر حرام کیا، حرام کیا حرام کیا” (“I have made her haram upon my person, made her haram, made her haram”), signed it, but he was entirely unaware of its meaning and consequences.
Answer
Acting against the consensus (ijma‘) of the Umma is categorically haram. If Zayd is a muqallid (a follower of a madhhab), it is not permissible for him to act against his imam; and if he is himself a mujtahid, able to derive rulings from the hadiths, then what need does he have to ask some muqallid?
