Dispute between father-in-law and son-in-law over the words “talaq” and “talaqi” (تلاقی)
Question
A question of talaq has become entangled in a strange way. In order to understand the matter fully, I am sending a copy of the contents of the letters of the father-in-law and the son-in-law: (a) The father-in-law’s letter to the son-in-law: “I conveyed your message to Aziza and told her that your husband has said this: ‘If Aziza does not come to his house within a week, then I give her talaq’; and I also told her that he said this sentence twice.
Answer
Even if it is granted that the son-in-law relies on the father-in-law’s words and report, the matter is still easy: namely, the husband should say, “I have taken back my wife,” and then resume marital relations as before; there is no need for a new nikah.
