Talaq does not occur by the word “taq” (طاق)
Question
My relatives and my in-laws do not adhere to the Shari‘a. I could not bear the talk of love, contrary to the Shari‘a, in front of my wife, and in anger, in a single breath, these words escaped my tongue: (1) “منو میں نے تمہیں طاق دی” (“Munnu, I have given you ‘taq’”; ‘taq’ literally means ‘odd’, ‘niche’), (2) “منو میں نے تمہیں طاق دی” (“Munnu, I have given you ‘taq’”), (3) “منو میں نے تمہیں طاق دی” (“Munnu, I have given you ‘taq’”). After that I was forcibly made to write this down in a notebook.
Answer
If the word “طاق” was written (without the lam), and “طلاق” was not written, or it was said with the tongue in the same way, then no talaq has taken effect. But if the word “طلاق” was written or said, then he should write it again quite accurately, because this question has come before as well; the incident appears to be the same, but there is a difference in the wording.
