Does Wetness on the Member Make Ghusl Obligatory?
Question
Zayd woke from sleep and saw wetness on his member; it is not known whether it is mani, madhy or wadi, nor does he remember a dream. Is ghusl wajib? If it is wajib — in the case where there was no erection before sleep, as ‘Alamgiri has cited (vol. 1, p. 10) — then Zayd has this objection to it. Firstly, it is not known whether it is mani or not. Secondly, even if it is assumed that it is mani, there was no spurting (dafq)
Answer
[ar]ومنها وجود ماء رقيق بعد النوم ولم يتذكر احتلامًا[/ar] “And among them (the things that necessitate ghusl) is finding thin fluid after sleep when he does not remember a nocturnal emission” (Maraqi al-Falah).
