Sajda al-sahw for forgetfully rising from the first or final sitting

Question

If in the final sitting a person forgetfully begins to stand up and sits down before standing up fully, does sajda al-sahw become wajib or not? In “Tahtawi”, on p. 271, he writes: [ar]سجد للسهو سواء كان إلى القيام أقرب أو إلى القعود أقرب، بخلاف السهو عن القعود الأولى ففيه التفصيل على أحد القولين[/ar] “…he performs sajda al-sahw, whether he was closer to standing or closer to sitting — unlike forgetfulness regarding the first sitting, for there a distinction is made according to one of the two views.

Answer

Shami gave both sittings one and the same ruling: just as in the first sitting there is a distinction — if he is closer to sitting there is no sajda al-sahw, and if he is closer to standing sajda al-sahw is wajib — so too is the ruling for the final sitting.
