Forgetfully standing up from the final sitting for a fifth rak‘a

Question

Zayd, in the final sitting, having recited the tashahhud, forgetfully stood up, immediately remembered and sat down. Must he now perform sajda al-sahw or not? And if he must, should he perform it after reciting the tashahhud, or perform it without reciting the tashahhud?

Answer

He must perform sajda al-sahw, and for it in such a case the tashahhud is not necessary (lazim); rather, the tashahhud he has already recited suffices (Shami, p. 503, vol. 1).
