Putting up flags and the like on the day of the khatm of the Qur’an
Question
In a certain mosque a hafiz of the Qur’an leads the tarawih, and in this mosque, on the day of the khatm of the Qur’an, he sees things contrary to the Shari‘a: midway it becomes known that in this mosque, with money from contributions and from non-contribution [funds], on the day of the khatm of the Qur’an paper flags [are put up], illuminations are arranged and sweets are distributed — although the hafiz has said several times that this custom should be stopped, [since] it is a bid‘a (innovation in religion)
Answer
In such a situation the imam should pray in some mosque where these absurdities (khurafat) do not take place.
