Repeating al-Fatiha, and “Bismillah” at the Beginning of Every Sura
Question
Some hafizes have the habit that, in the last rak‘a of the last tarawih, after al-Fatiha they recite Surat al-Nas and then recite “al-Hamdu lillah” and some portion of Surat al-Baqara — [all] in one rak‘a. Is there not some defect in this because of the repetition of al-Fatiha? Further: if someone recites several suras in a single rak‘a, should he recite “Bismillah” at the beginning of each sura or not? And if so, how?
Answer
(1) There is no defect in this. Repeating al-Fatiha, if done consecutively, necessitates the sajda al-sahw; but if a sura comes in between, the sajda al-sahw is not necessary: [ar]ولو كررها (الفاتحة) في الأوليين يجب عليه سجود السهو؛ لأنه أخر واجبًا وهو السورة، بخلاف ما لو أعادها بعد السورة أو كررها في الأخريين اهـ[/ar] “If he repeated it (al-Fatiha)
