Some prayers of the night of mid-Sha‘ban
Question
It is written in some books that on the night of mid-Sha‘ban (Laylat al-Bara’a) one should perform ghusl with the intention of worship, pray two rak‘as of nafl tahiyyat al-wudu’, recite in every rak‘a after Surah al-Fatiha Ayat al-Kursi once and Surah al-Ikhlas three times, and occupy oneself with worship from the very time of maghrib, so that the record of deeds begins with good works. Many people do this. How is it?
Answer
Ghusl and tahiyyat al-wudu’ are indeed good things; being occupied with worship the whole night from the very evening is also good fortune. But special observance and binding oneself to it (ihtimam and iltizam) are not established; reciting in every rak‘a after Surah al-Fatiha Ayat al-Kursi and Surah al-Ikhlas three times is not established.
