Surat al-Ikhlas in place of the qunut supplication

Question

Is the prayer of those who, in the witr prayer, recite Surat al-Ikhlas instead of the qunut supplication valid or not?

Answer

Whatever supplication is recited as the qunut supplication, the prayer will be valid: it does not depend on the well-known, familiar supplication; it only needs to be a supplication. Surat al-Ikhlas, however, is not a supplication.
