Praying in red clothing

Question

What is the Shari‘a ruling on performing the prayer in red clothes, for example wearing a red shirt, coat or waist-wrap? Does the prayer become makruh?

Answer

Pure red cloth is forbidden for a man. Hence prayer performed wearing such cloth will also be makruh — provided the dye is pure. If the dye is impure, then until it is washed to the extent that the dye stops running, prayer in it is absolutely not valid.
