Praying in a Turkish cap, and the prayer of one who lives on unlawful earnings

Question

Is the prayer valid in a Turkish cap (fez)? Are the worship and du‘a of someone whose livelihood is haram accepted or not?

Answer

If the Turkish cap is dyed with an impure dye, prayer in it is not valid until it is washed to the point that the dye stops coming out. If the red dye of the Turkish cap is not impure, or it is a fast dye and the cap has been purified, even then a pure red colour is forbidden for a man, so prayer in it will be makruh.
