Performing the prayer while wearing a sari

Question

Many women perform the prayer sitting without an excuse. When they are told that praying sitting without an excuse is not permissible, they all say that the prayer is not valid when performed standing in a sari. Since women wear saris above the ankles, and when they perform ruku' their shins become considerably exposed — is the prayer valid?

Answer

They must by no means pray wearing a sari in which the shins become exposed and the qiyam is not properly performed. By abandoning the fard of qiyam the prayer will not be valid.
