Reciting several suras in one rak‘a of a fard prayer
Question
An imam, in the morning prayer, after al-Fatiha recited Surah al-Jumu‘a, then recited “Inna anzalnahu” (Surah al-Qadr), and in the second rak‘a recited from Surah “Alam tara kayfa” (al-Fil) up to Surah al-Nas. Is it correct to join suras in this way in fard prayers or not? Please write the answer with evidence.
Answer
Combining several suras in one rak‘a of a fard prayer in this way is not established; therefore it is contrary to the sunna. Nevertheless, the prayer was still performed, and sajda al-sahw did not become wajib either, because no wajib was omitted.
