What a hafiz should do if reciting the Qur’an is burdensome for him
Question
If someone has memorised part of the Qur’an, but reciting that much in tarawih while standing is burdensome for him, should such a weak person pray tarawih and tahajjud sitting, or should he stand and perform tarawih and tahajjud reciting only from “Alam tara kayfa” (Surah al-Fil) and short suras?
Answer
As long as he is able to recite standing, he should recite standing, and the remainder of the long recitation he should complete sitting, in two rak‘as or more. He should do the same in both tarawih and tahajjud.
